My boyfriend and I both tried to play Myst IV. However, we found the hand control unwieldy. Also, the part at the beginning where you're trying to get the frequencies right, we both found difficult to do, tedious, and silly. After playing Myst I, II, and III, I was excited to play Myst IV. But after having so much trouble just starting out, this version is going to Goodwill. I'd rather play something that is more user-friendly. Better luck next time. How incredibly disappointing! |

Yes the updater sucks. A problem arises if you move the game after installing it. Your home directory contains a file vpd.properties listing all the game components' locations. You need to have the game exactly where you installed it to run the updater. I was getting this error, because the installer isn't smart enough to create a folder for the game, it just dumps all its junk wherever you pointed it to, so I made a nice folder to make things neat. So now the updater is confused. I moved the game back out of my new folder and the updater was happy. Unfortunately, I then broke CD #2 and had to reorder the software. Oh, well. Anyhow |

Great game - it's just a shame that this "installer" refuses to install. |

Same here, this is one big @#*% installer that doesn't work. |

Same problem for me: "Unable to install Myst IV - Revelation: Patch is associated with a product that is not installed on target machine."
I even tried choosing the folder the game was in, as someone suggested, to no avail. |

This was found on UbiSoft website:
"...it seems that the Myst IV patcher will fail if the vpd.properties file is missing from your home directory. The vpd.properties file contains a registry of checksums and pathnames for all installed files. The patcher uses this file to know where you installed Myst IV, and if you've installed the patch yet.
If you had deleted the vpd.properties file, or are experiencing a problem installing the patch, you will need to uninstall the game, delete the files and folder left over in the game directory (if any) and reinstall the game to the default location. After reinstalling, immediately apply the v1.01 patch"
Guess I have some reinstalling in my future. |

This is a great game, but its installer is the worst I have ever seen on OS X. The installer for this patch does not work properly. Here is the error message I keep getting. "Unable to install Myst IV - Revelation: Patch is associated with a product that is not installed on target machine." And yes I did choose the folder the game is in. No go. Come on Ubisoft. |

Holy crap. It doesn't work...even when I type in the path to the folder, like Jeff suggested. |

The update works fine. You just have to chose the folder the game is in not the game itself. The installer won't let you choose the folder though so you need to type in its path if its not already at the right path. It fixed a bug with my Radeon 9800 XT so I'm happy. Wow what a great game! |
