The Alchemist
A fabulous game for the mind and soul. You're in a laboratory, with hundreds of test-tubes and retorts around you, trying to find the only combination that leads to success. Do it right! With gothic music on the background, enigmatic sounds and thrilling medieval look and feel, the game grabs a hold on your soul first time you get into it!
The Alchemist. Not - as the name may suggest - a game involving wacky people trying to turn door-knobs into gold, but rather a puzzle game which has the player arranging assorted colors of vials in the hope of scoring a few valuable points.
The game concept is simple; each level has a set pattern, which you must attempt to recreate on the play-field using colored game pieces that are presented in numerous different arrangements (sort of in the style of Tetris). When the player successfully recreates the given pattern using objects of the same color, the pattern and every similar object around it will be zapped in to thin air. All that is left behind are a few points for effort and an empty space on the play-field for the player to once again fill with assorted containers in the hope of securing some more points...
Features:
• Hi-color graphics and stunningly rendered 3D pieces.
• Breath-taking gothic interface
• Fully customizable: change board size and shape, number of game pieces ,etc.
• Internet score list - send your results right from the game and compete world-wide
• FREE editor for creating new levels
• Handy controls for the background music

This is a very cool board game, and definitely a nice alternative to Solitaire. There are lots of nice touches that make this game even more enjoyable. I have one major gripe: It is WAY too slow. On anything less than a high-end G3, the animation is choppy, and considering how little animation there is, there is no excuse for this abysmal performance. It's unplayable on my 8600/300, and that's ridiculous. That's why I gave it only two joysticks. |
