| I played the demo and right away I notice that this game suffers from several severe drawbacks, the most important being the limitation of movement of either the protagonist or the observer. The environment is a 3D simulation, but the point of view is fixed and Eve can only move in very restricted directions. This is a game of exploration and investigation but we are only allowed to explore a few possibilities in each scene and investigate only those objects the game directs you to.
The graphics and animation aren't so hot either. Myst was a great game in large part because the graphics were so stunning. Here the graphics are ordinary, uninspired.
On the plus side, I think it is a wonderful idea for a game. I like this sort of exploration thing. The music is appropriately eerie for a mystery game.
Remember, I only played the demo. I could be wrong. Perhaps later on there would be turns in the story and surprises that would make it all worthwhile. I just felt there was something clunky about the way this game was realized in the graphics and the interface. |
