Global Conflicts: Palastine 1.0

In Global Conflicts: Palestine, you assume the role of a freelance journalist who has just arrived in Jerusalem armed with a pen, a notepad and your sharp wits to get you through the challenges ahead. The goal is to create and get an article published for a newspaper by collecting quotes from the dialog in the game. The player can either get information by building up trust with each side or take a more confrontational approach to dig out information. In the end, the story with the most news-value will get the best exposure, but be careful what you print, it will affect your standings with both sides. No matter the approach or the chosen alignment, during the course of the game your beliefs and ideas about the conflict will be challenged. You will experience situations - taken from real life events - that are more complicated than outsiders may realize.

Global Conflicts: Palestine is a different type of game that requires a different way of thinking and playing. Through a simple interface and an approachable game world every one can play – you don’t have to be a gamer to enjoy playing ‘Global Conflicts: Palestine’.

Very good so far.. it's visually acceptable, the elements that have been built seem pretty well thought out (like the interviewee's emotion-meter) and the sound is good. But it definitely needs more for it to be more of a game that engages people to keep going than an interactive situation lesson that will only hold the interest of people already wanting that kind of thing... or people like me that are just interested in evaluating the thing. More environmental "game stuff" (things to collect, stuff to read, equipment to configure, a budget to purchase and bribe with, etc.), more details to the locations, some voice recordings (at least the greetings of each character?) to add emersion, And it certainly needs more reality in your job. Who would only carry around a note pad with room for only 5 quotes? Who would not be able to remember anything before the last thing said and not use a recorder of some kind? Who would not carry a camera and make money from photos or video too? Who in this day and age would not carry a cell phone? I think the answer to all these questions is "no reporter expecting to get printed". Give us a recorder, a camera, and a cell phone. Let us chunk together a story from bits we've recorded after we've done the interviews. Make the experience a little richer. Give us a little more to do than find each person with their name floating over their head. You do that and you'll have a core game that will keep all kinds of people engaged. Finish up with some intense/chilling cinematics (at least for a promo trailer) and you'll get more people curious.

In my oppinion this is a really good game, but if you are more interested in pointless addicting arcade games I would not recomend this game.

Pretty cool! It's a "serious game"--more for education than for entertainment--but it's quite slick and very original. Something like a souped up "choose your own adventure" that makes you think about some important issues. It doesn't take sides--but as a journalist, YOU can take sides in the game if you wish.
