Hollow Ground is a one or two-player tactical arcade game taking place in a post-apocalyptic future. Four mercenaries have to make an unwelcome journey to rid a war-weary world of a new threat of extinction, a terrible biomechanical weapon of mass destruction.
On the way you have to battle armies of mutated creatures while navigating through the labyrinthine tunnels of the Epsilon bunker. You will find weapons to aid your quest, and credit chips for use in the shops that appear between levels. The more than 60 maps appear in a somewhat random order to enhance re-playability. The blend of old-school arcade action and true focus on tactics is what sets this game apart from an ordinary shooter.
• Fixed bug where any missing map files caused the game to crash when loading a save.
• Fixed bug where some error dialog boxes did not suspend fullscreen mode.
• Changed MacOS X download package to dmg format.
The game says it can't find the map files, any help?

Hollow Ground is a top down 2D shooter in the tradition of Gauntlet, but featuring much deeper gameplay. This is not a game to be appreciated in a single playing, but like most original designs requires effort on your part to reveal its full depth. Single and Two Player games allow you to choose between four distinct characters each with four unique (and upgradeable) weapons plus a variety of psychic powers and upgrades to enhance your chances of survival. Because the selection and order of levels is semi-randomly determined and the characters develop differently each game depending on your upgrade choices, I am reminded of the replayability of the original Diablo rather than Gauntlet. A free editor allows registered users to create custom levels and incorporate them into the game and share them with other players on Aescapia's website. Hollow Ground is a professional effort to be savored by those willing to invest a little time to unearth its secrets.

I hate feeling like I'm being lied to. This game sucked. I have no idea what game was being played by the people that gave this game more than two stars, it wasn't this one.
