iPong 3.3

iPong is an integrated media player and pong game which revolutionises the way people simultaneously view media and play pong. It is also capable of playing plain pong without a movie, for those who find a timewaster with a media player attached as an afterthought too reminiscent of RealPlayer.

• Drag and drop movie playing
• Plays any format supported by QuickTime, including mov, jpg, mp3, swf, etc
• Fully resizable
• Independent pong and movie controls
• Multiple levels of pong difficulty
• Cunning pong adversary, controlled by a sophisticated AI powered by subtraction and division

The Jaguar version features a brushed metal interface reminiscent of QuickTime Player.

Mac Games Fixes and Changes

• Universal Binary for improved performance on Intel macs
• New flicker-free formula for silky smooth pong over the most intense motion pictures
• Choose from five different sound effect themes

Mac Games System Requirements

Universal Binary (PPC/Intel)
• MacOS X 10.3 or better

This software allows a person to watch a movie while playing pong. This revolutionary piece of software is the beginning of what (I’m sure) will be a very long line of pong media players. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see apple come out with some sort of handheld pong-media digital-lifestyle device sooner or later. As revolutionary as this program is, it’s not without flaws. As the first program to use pong-media technology, it is a somewhat basic implementation. It runs slowly on all but the fastest computers. As with most technological breakthroughs, we’ll just have to wait until consumer hardware catches up to tasks of this complexity. Think of iPong 2 not as a program intended for standard use, but more as a preview of a digital transformation that will occur over the next few years.

i agree it runs choppily (867mhz g4 here), and the color scheme is hideous, but this remains a milestone of software programming - the ability to PLAY PONG and WATCH SOMETHING at the same time in the same window MUST be exactly what SOMEONE out there is looking for! ugly, absurd and brilliant.

If I (or indeed anyone) had a need for playing pong and watching movies at the same time, this app would fill it admirably. Why, God, why?
