| Despite some good work on music and graphics, wesnoth is the most annoying game ever invented. One of the biggest deceitfulness is the clueless claim to be a strategic game, while it is only a chance based board, something between gambling and card games.
And no more interest can be added trying the online game, because the worst is the 'community', you have the feeling that this is some social experiment to measure how much impolite thing can go on. What can be the usage of a social experiment is another question ;-))) |

| I consider this to be the best free game I've come across.
Looking forward to the iPhone/iPod Touch version. |

| Learning curve isn't exactly easy, graphics might not be 3d, but certainly has a very very solid game play. |

| This game has hours of game play. Requires strategic thinking (not just build up an army and attack, sometimes you have to run). |

| @SamusAran - You are kidding right? The Wars series has been around since the late 80s in Japan, and even Advance Wars hit the west two years before Wesnoth was released. This game is great though, but it is quite hard to get into. Still can't be free + Open Source + fun though. |

| Great turn based strategy game! Graphics are well done, amazing for a freeware game. For those who say the game is "more like Advance Wars", well you're right, but it's more like the other way around, considering this game far predates Advance Wars, let alone the DS. |

| As to above comment: There are two versions, one for OSX and one for 10.*, so that review is not correct.
This game is not as good as Heroes of Might & Magic, but it's COMPLETELY FREE and has a huge fanbase. Sadly the server seems to have some problems now, but more people probably play this than HoM&M. Comes with a map editor and many addons immediately available for download. One of the best open source, free games I've ever played. |
