Battlefield 1942 Multiplayer Demo 1.6.1b
This demo version of Battlefield: 1942 allows you to experience online play using the free GameRanger game matching service. To play the demo, you must first run the GameRanger application and either host a Battlefield 1942 Demo game or join an existing Battlefield 1942 Demo game. After setting the game up, GameRanger will automatically start up the demo and host/join the network game. The demo version of Battlefield 1942 will not allow use of the in-game browser and does not play online with the full retail PC or Mac versions. The retail version of Battlefield 1942 does have an in-game browser and plays against both PCs and Macs.
Battlefield 1942 puts you at the heart of World War II combat, allowing you to choose from 16 famous battle sites, including Omaha Beach, Stalingrad and Wake Island, from the four main theaters of World War II including the Pacific, Eastern and Western Europe and Northern Africa. With the ability to control more than 35 authentic Axis and Allied vehicles and select from five distinct character classes, you are faced with incredible choices in your plan of action. The Road to Rome focuses exclusively on the key, yet largely underpublicized Italian and Sicilian campaigns of WWII. Battlefield 1942 and The Road to Rome also feature incredible single player action. These levels feature unscripted, advanced AI allowing players a completely different experience each time they play.

| This is one of the greatest demos ever, but unfortunately the publisher has made this demo to good, no mac players where buying this game, they where only playing the demo, that is why they decided to not support it anymore, strangely enough even 6 years after the release, you cannot play the demo unless you pay for Gameranger. Or buy the game for a few bucks somewhere. |

| Complete and utter waste of time!
Great game but it cannot be played:
Needs Gameranger to start it, but GR says "Unfortunately, Battlefield 1942 Demo was removed at the request of its publisher" so what use is there in keeping this demo available? |

| An absolute waste of time. Does not work, forces you to download "Gameranger", which cannot play the game. This is outrageous. |

| Gameranger, the publisher and demo download servers should play the same game, why give us a 282MB download when the publisher won't really allow Gameranger to run the thing? A pointless time waster |
